At 83 years old, Marjorie Lerud has decided to go out and make a difference. She is studying at a DTS (Discipleship Training School) in Chico California. Next Step? Madagascar! Why? The statistics from Madagascar are heart wrenching. Many children are raped, mainly done by the dad, uncle or brother. Because of the culture, it is tabou to talk about sex. Even if the kids are complaining, most parents are more concerned about their reputation. This is more important to them than sending the one who rapes to jail. There are some people who go to court, but the rapists just pay money and go free. The sex-tourism and sex trafficking have increased. This has also led to an increase in child prostitution and child exploitation. Poverty & criminal networks are a main cause. What can we do? Marjorie and her daughter Loralin are going to Madagascar. There, we will bring home made dresses to the little girls. This is showing them, that no matter what they are going through, they are loved. We will only be there for two months, but we plan to have activities for the children where they can get away from the abuse, if only for a few hours. It might not be much, but to a little girl, it can mean a lot. Please think about partnering with us to help the children of Madagascar.
